Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
Recognition, Reality and Resolution

By Dr. G.D. Kewley, Consultant Paediatrician

How Parents Can Cope with ADHD

Parents expect children to be impulsive and headstrong. But when the teacher complains that their 7-year-old son or 10-year-old daughter is doing poorly in school because of an inability to concentrate, or because the child is constantly talking and misbehaving, the condition is abnormal and the whole family suffers. Few parents know how to cope well when the child is beyond control; many resort to physical punishment or constant criticism, which can lead to other kinds of problems. If the cause is ADHD, much understanding is required. The solutions parents have available to them DO exist, but must be learned and practiced, as explained in this book.
